Don't be nervous. I live in Oklahoma & my mom lives in Louisiana. I've flown down there and to texas so many times by myself and im only 14. I've been doing it since i was 10 or 11. It's actually quite fun. Taking off is the best part. Sometimes your ears can get stopped up. All you do to fix it is chew gum or yawn. It always works for me! You should always be at the airport at least an hour early, so you can check in, go through security, and find your gate. Don't pack any liquids/lotions/perfumes/shampoos in your carry on bag. They will just straight up throw it away. Put all of that in your suitcase that you check in. & ive never taken my straightner with me in my carry on bag before, but im pretty sure it would be fine. Hope this helped! :)

it's an adventure -something exciting, not frightening. your attitude change will help you enjoy the trip. pack a bag with some clothing applicable for the weather to check onto the flight & put your toiletries & other things for the flight itself in your small carry on bag.

flights are rarely, if ever canceled due to thunder storms. While in flight the Pilot can typically fly above the storms. I'm not familiar with what a hair straightener is but if it's liquid it can't be over 3oz. and must be placed into a zip lock baggy which you will put into a bin at security along with your shoes,jacket,carry-on. Enjoy your flight!
4 :
1) Your travel dates are too far away for any weather prediction to be accurate, so don't worry about the rain. It might rain, but it could also turn out to be a nice, calm day. 2) Rain by itself almost never causes a cancellation. Sometimes planes are held on the ground before takeoff to wait for a particularly heavy shower to pass by. 3) Same thing with thunderstorms. If one is nearby when landing, you may just fly in a circle for a while to wait until it passes, then you will land. 4) If your flight is delayed because of bad weather, there is nothing you can do except to be patient and to be glad that the air traffic control people are doing their job to make sure everyone arrives safely. Becoming upset or worried about something over which no one has any control is a waste of energy. 5) Your BF can check on Airtran's website to see if your plane has taken off from LGA, and when it is expected to arrive, so he can figure out when to leave to meet you at the airport. Since it is a non-stop flight, then you do not have to be concerned about missing a connecting flight - that's a very good thing. 6) Yes, you can take your hair straightener in your carry on - people do that all the time. 7) You can also take liquids in your carry on bag - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste and so on. All of those items must be in containers that are 3.4 ounces or less (100 ml), and all of them must be together in a single, 1 quart, zip lock bag. When you get to the checkpoint, take that bag out of your carry on bag and put it into a bin, put your carry on bag onto the conveyor belt as well, a purse and coat and shoes can go into a bin, too. I hope you find the flight to be enjoyable and trouble free.

International flight transfer at O'Hare

International flight transfer at O'Hare?
I'm going to fly to China from Indianapolis, with a transfer at O'Hare, Chicago. Both flights are United. Are my luggages checked all the way to China in Indianapolis or I have to get my luggages checked again at O'Hare? Do I have to go through another security check at O'Hare or simply go to another gate to make the transfer? Thank you very much for your replies!

Your luggage will be taken care of all the way to china. And you won't have to go through security again. United is unique at O'Hare that its international flights are in the same terminal as its domestic flights.

Indianapolis to St. Louis bus travel

Indianapolis to St. Louis bus travel?
I need to travel from Indianapolis (or Bloomington, In.) to St.Louis (family of 3). Used to be a quick and cheap flight - no more! Greyhound Bus from Indy is cheap, but is it OK in terms of personal safety and comfort? We would be going in the afternoon, not at night.

Just be extra careful at the Downtown St. Louis station. Have someone meet you (and not be late) or grab a cab as soon as you have all of your luggage. Have a great trip!
2 :
Comfort, not necessarily. Safety is probably okay. You probably already know to watch your things in ANY large city bus station, and don't accept help carrying it from anyone you don't know. It is a ploy to run with your valuables.

Transferring to international flight at JFK? Anyone familiar with JFK

Transferring to international flight at JFK? Anyone familiar with JFK?
Hi, all I'm going to China very soon and now I'm looking at some flight tickets. I'm considering flying from Indianapolis to JFK non-stop by Delta, then from JFK to Beijing by Air China. If so, I'm arriving at JFK at 3:05PM and the Air China plane takes off at 4:50 PM. I've never been to JFK before. Is the lay over time enough to make this transfer? I got luggage to check too. Thank you very much PS: China Airlines has a horrible safety record, not Air China...which is way better

Probably not since you have to go through a baggage claim, a check-in, screening, customs blah blah blah...that's just my opinion since i like to have LOTS of time in case something goes wrong
2 :
delta should inter-line your luggage to the other airline (if delta has a inter-line baggage agreement (most of the majors do) so you wont see your luggage until you arrive in china (this is if your reservation are on one ticket
3 :
I live 15 minutes from JFK. Yes the time is enough..but are you sure to travel Air China?. Do you know how many crashes that airline has in record?, I will use Singapore airline, even if it takes longer it is the best airline, with the best seats, and in economy they give you food like in business class, the best service, the newest planes and great service. You will be in economy class with a business class service.
4 :
It might be a little rush depending on how many people are there that day. Chances are, you will have to switch terminals, which means you have to exit the terminal and either walk or take shuttle over to the next one. Then you have to go through security, possibly check in with the airline again and there might be lines for that. All the terminals are not connected with each other. They are stand alone, in their own separate buildings and there might be a distance between your current one and the next one you need to go to. Plus, one of the major runways is closed for repaving right now, so all the airlines have to share the other runways. edit: Just looked at JFK's website and it looks like that your delta flight will be arriving at Terminal 3. Air China uses terminal 1, so its the building before. You dont have to go far, but you still have to maybe check in, but definitely go through security again.

Would the AFC Wild Card be played in Indianapolis

Would the AFC Wild Card be played in Indianapolis? ?
Since the Colts have a better record than either Denver or San Diego, would the Wild Card game be played in Indianapolis? I know that #4 plays #5 and the Colts are the #5 team. Depending on who wins this upcoming week between Denver and San Diego, that team would be #4. I want to get tickets for my boyfriend for his birthday and need to arrange flight and hotel if they are playing in Indy.

No, it will be played at San Diego.
2 :
Nope higher seed gets home field. Record means nothing because the Colts didn't win the division.
3 :
No. The team with a higher seed, in this case denver or san diego would be the 4 seed and therefore get the home field game regardless of record.
4 :
No, the only way the colts play a home game in the playoffs, would be in the AFC championship team and that would only happen if they were playing the 6th seed which is highly unlikely that the colts will have a home game.
5 :
nope wild card realy play at home unless there 5 and they play the 6 seed p's ffuucckk the colts go pats and titans lol kidding no not really
6 :
No it would not: Division winners get the priority for homefield
7 :
Save your money, the game will be in Denver or San Diego. The only way the Colts will host a playoff game is if the Colts and the #6 seeded team make it to the AFC Championship game, which won't happen.
8 :
What Steve said except I disagree completely with his last sentence. Baltimore could definitely win at Miami or New England. Not saying they will...but they can.
9 :
No the game will be in either SD or Denver.

What is the best way to get from downtown Chicago to Chicago Midway Airport

What is the best way to get from downtown Chicago to Chicago Midway Airport?
Hi, I am visiting Chicago at the beginning of May. We arrive by bus from Indianapolis but are departing from Midway airport. Our flight departs at 9am and we are staying at the James Hotel, 55 East Ontario. What is the quickest and most cost effective way of getting there. There will be two people with a total of four pieces of luggage. How much will it cost and how long will the ride take at that time of day. Many Thanks, Jon

you would have to take the ORANGE line and the last stop is Midway airport . it would cost about $3.00 per person.. as for the baggage as long as the train isnt to crowded you will be ok.. you would want to get there at least 90 minutes before the flight the hotel workers should be able to tell you where to get on the Orange line and the times the trains departs
2 :
Just avoid the BS and take a cab. It will save you lots of hassle.
3 :
From your location (which is in the River North/Magnificent Mile area), walk west to State Street. You'll catch the red line, probably at Grand station. Head south (toward 95th Street), and get off at the Roosevelt stop. There's an easy there. Walk through the pedestrian tunnel and then take the elevator upstairs to the orange line. Head south on the orange line to Midway. You'll walk through a skyway to get from the train station to the parking ramp and airport terminal. The cost should be $2.25, and if you've been using a CTA pass for your other travels in Chicago, the same pass will get you to the airport. The time will probably be half an hour or less, but allow 45 minutes, in case the transfer is timed wrong. You'll probably want to leave at 6:30am to allow for all the check-in procedures. The red line is likely to be crowded through downtown, but just push your way on with luggage--tourists do it all the time. The orange line (especially outbound toward Midway) should have plenty of space for you and your luggage.
4 :
Save yourself all of the needless Mickey Mousing and just take a cab The entire ride is against the flow of traffic and at 7:00 AM it's a 15-18 minute trip
